This was our first visit to Chain O Lakes State Park. We stayed 4 nights, 5 days. I discovered this park while asking for recommendations on a great place to camp and kayak. We were not disappointed. During our stay we kayaked 5 of the lakes, and enjoyed paddling through the woods on the channels. Pros: The lakes are secluded and beautiful. Kids enjoyed the playground The bathrooms were kept clean Paddle craft and electric motors only on lakes Room for improvement: Staff at the store did not know where to purchase kayak permits Showers could be updated, did not drain well Beach had many geese and goose droppings Overall Impression: We really enjoyed our stay at Chain O Lakes State Park, and will definitely return. The park is approximately 2 hours from the Toledo, Ohio area, but would still be worth a day trip for kayaking. This is an awesome park for kids, and our 6 and 8 year olds has a blast.

This is a beautiful State Park low admission fees. That is very well maintained although the last time I was there they were doing some road construction which is understandable because of all the Rolling Hills. Great place to go fishing if you have the permits. Side note there is also a Department of Corrections Facility inside of it. And they also help maintain the park. These are non-violent non sex offenders. Mainly people for tax evasion and larceny. So nothing to be too worried about.

Always have been impressed with the lakes trails are very kept up. Although two of their back lakes were kind of covered in algey and not really kept up with the rest of the park is very nice for the most part. I do recommend the year pass for 50$ it will get you into all state parks in Indiana. And if you go often you make that money back in the long run because 7 visits and you're already at 49$.

Chain O'Lakes is an amazing place. The kayaking the canoeing the fishing are few wonders of the Lakes. Plenty of trails that you can hike. There's an informational trail that has a lot of sign so you can read about the local environment. Little names for everything on the trail. Plenty of Wildlife. Things that I have seen are foxes groundhogs deer Turtles many many birds. It is one of the few parks that continuously go camping at over and over. The campground is kept clean and it's easy to navigate. The camp store open on the weekends on off-season and open everyday during the season has everything you need if you forgot something on your trip. And don't forget it's popcorn they have popcorn. Overall experience each time I has gone has been wonderful.
